JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WFLA) — A thermal drone helped locate the whereabouts of a warthog who went missing from the Jacksonville Zoo last Friday.
The warthog, named Mateo, had disappeared from the zoo grounds when officers received the call.
According to Officer Sam Ho who works in the unmanned Arial Systems unit of Jacksonville's Sheriff's Office, the drone's heat-detecting features were crucial in locating Mateo among the dense surrounding foliage.
Due to the visuals provided by the drone, Mateo was located still on Zoo property and successfully recaptured.
