PALM BAY, Fla. (WFLA) — Two children were killed in a Florida apartment fire early Friday morning.
Palm Bay Fire Rescue said at about 12:40 a.m., firefighters were called to an apartment on Sunnybrook Lane in northeast Palm Bay.
Several people were trapped in a second-floor apartment fire, which required an aggressive approach from firefighters to keep it contained and rescue those inside.
According to PBFR, search teams found the body of a 10-year-old child along with two survivors, a 5-year-old and a 32-year-old adult.
The survivors were taken to Orlando Regional to be treated for burns, but the 5-year-old died of their injuries. The adult is in critical condition.
A 15-year-old who managed to escape the fire without any injuries has been relocated to other family members.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
