TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) -- Gas prices have reached a new high for the year.
Prices jumped $.13 in the past week. According to AAA, the prices dropped $.06 over the weekend, but things are still steeply priced at the pump.
Leaders with the auto club say the average price for a gallon of gas in Florida is $3.58.
A spokesperson describes the oil market as "volatile" and says the main factor in rising prices is the conflict between Israel and Iran. OPEC's decision to extend production cuts is also a factor.
Suggestions to save money on gas include:
- Combine errands to limit time driving
- Shop around for the best gas prices in the area
- Pay with cash to avoid an additional fee for credit cards
- Avoid aggressive acceleration and speeding to conserve fuel
