CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A man is dead and a woman was left injured in an overnight shooting in Clearwater, as police continue their search for the suspect.
Homicide detectives are actively investigating the shooting, which occurred around 2 a.m. on Saturday at the Washington Square apartments on Fernwood Avenue.
Police said a 51-year-old man died, and his 43-year-old girlfriend was hospitalized after the suspect went to their apartment and got involved in a confrontation with the woman's 19-year-old son.
The confrontation reportedly escalated, resulting in the two being shot. They were taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where the man died. The woman has since been treated for her injuries and was released.
The suspect remains at large.
