ORLANDO, Fla. (WFLA) — A man was caught hiding in an apartment complex's attic after a maintenance worker reported hearing noises.

Orlando police responded to a "suspicious person" on Nov. 2, who was in a gym's locked storage closet at the Arbors at Lee Vista Club apartment complex.

According to a criminal complaint, officers had to kick down the door to enter to locked room, following attempts of knocking and removing the door handle with a drill.

When officers used cameras to scope out the attic, they located the intruder.

The video shows a cluster of cops gathered underneath the entryway to the attic, holding a camera to peer in.

After they ordered the suspect to get out and got no response, they deployed two irritants to force him out.

The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Carlos Oguis, began moving around in the attic, which caused his foot to break through the ceiling, the police department said.

Oguis told officers that he had gotten back late from work and was just trying to sleep. He claimed a friend lived at the complex, but couldn't provide the address or last name of the so-called resident.

Oguis eventually came down the ladder and was arrested on charges of burglary, trespassing in a structure, and criminal mischief.
