TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy is one game away from shattering a record that has stood for 61 years.
A win against the Winnipeg Jets (15-1-0) would break a four-game losing skid for the Tampa Bay Lightning (7-6-1) and make Vasilevskiy the fastest goaltender to hit 300 career wins in NHL history.
“What he's accomplished, how fast he’s done it, the volume he has, all those things, we still consider him in the prime of his career. It's pretty impressive what he has done,” said Lightning head coach Jon Cooper.
Andrei Vasilevskiy stopped 31 of 32 shots during the Lightning's last game against the Flyers.
The Bolts will have to go through the Jets if they want to get Vasilevskiy the record. The Jets beat the Lighting in Manitoba a few weeks ago.
