PHOENIX, Ariz. (WFLA) — A dog found stranded months ago in a canal in Arizona has finally found her forever home.
Dorothea, a 10-year-old Chihuahua mix, was rescued from a canal in June after the Arizona Humane Society found her clinging to a submerged shopping cart.
According to the humane society, the pup would likely not have survived if they, along with the Phoenix Fire Department, hadn't intervened.
Animal Medical Technician Hunter Stribling used a ladder, along with other tools, to pull the dog to safety.
The video shows Dorothea floating in the water before Stribling pulled the shopping cart she was floating on, to safety.
Dorothea was taken to a nearby animal trauma hospital to treat her minor injuries.
A video shared by the Arizona Humane Society shows her receiving food and care. She is also seen running around outside, getting much-deserved love, and belly rubs, from the staff.
After a month of receiving treatment, she was put up for adoption, where she eventually found her forever family in Youngtown, Arizona.
