WEST ORANGE, Texas (AP) — A newly released video shows an officer in southeast Texas making a dramatic water rescue of a woman whose vehicle was almost completely submerged in a pond.

On July 24, the child said his mother, Jonquetta Winbush, suffered a seizure, passed out, and put her foot on the gas pedal, plunging her vehicle into the water.

West Orange Assistant Police Chief Jessie Romero says Winbush’s two children, ages 12 and 16, managed to get out of the car.

Her son flagged down a nearby officer, who joined two construction workers to pull the woman from the car and take her to a nearby hospital.

"She's in the water," the young boy is heard telling the officer in a bodycam video. "Help her, hurry."

After three weeks in ICU, the mom is "breathing on her own". Romero says she is expected to make a complete recovery.

On July 30, Officer Charles Cobb, who rescued Winbush, received an award for his "outstanding and courageous efforts."
