ROCK HILL, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A woman is dead and her girlfriend charged with murder after an argument between coworkers escalated last week, according to the Rock Hill, S.C., Police Department.
The York County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Samarian Lindsay, 39, of Rock Hill.
Police were called to Riverwalk Parkway after 3 p.m. on June 19 for reports of a shooting. They arrived to find Lindsay shot in the chest and arrested a man at the scene.
Lindsay was taken to the Piedmont Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigators said that Lindsay and the man were coworkers at a nearby store who got into an altercation at work. Lindsay got into a car driven by her girlfriend, 32-year-old Brittney Reed of Lancaster. When the man got into his car and drove off, Reed blocked his car with hers.
Lindsay then walked up to the man's window with a handgun, and he pulled out his own handgun, shooting Lindsay, according to authorities. Reed punched the man in the face but left him alone after he yelled at her to get away. He waited for the police to arrive.
Police said the shooting was in self-defense so the man is not being charged. Reed has been arrested and charged with assault and battery.
The next day, police announced that Reed would also be charged with murder since she brought the gun to the confrontation at Lindsay's request. Police continued that Reed knew that the action to block the man's car could end in someone's death.
Two guns were found at the crime scene. Autopsy and toxicology will be completed this week. The death is still under investigation by the Rock Hill Police Department.
